NHL DFS

There are 11 games on the 2/6/18 NHL DFS slate tonight and we’ve got picks for centers, wingers, defensemen, and goalies. It’s always important to keep an eye on goalies leading up to puck drop as you don’t want to be left with a zero at that very important scoring position.

The picks and plays below are for DraftKings, FanDuel, and Draft Fantasy but can even be used to make educated decisions on the WinView Games App.

Centers

Evgeni Malkin vs. VGK ($7.3 DK / $8.8 FD)

Evgeni Malkin is a pretty safe cash play as he leads all skaters with 15 goals, 24 points and 12 power play points since January first. Malkin has 12 goals, 18 points (seven PPP) and 31 shots in his last 10 games. He enters tonight’s game on a four-game goal and point streak, where he has totalled eight goals and 11 points over that span.

Ryan Getzlaf @ BUF ($6.8 DK / $7.4 FD)

This is a great spot for the Ducks despite playing the second half of a back-to-back tonight. On the season, the Sabres have allowed the fourth most goals per game, and the eighth most shots per game. Things haven’t changed much for them in 2018 as they’ve allowed the seventh most goals and shots since January first. Over those 14 games since the calendar changed, their 67.6 penalty kill percentage ranks 28th. Ryan Getzlaf has three multipoint games in his last seven, and has 14 shots on goal in his last three games.

Erik Haula @ PIT ($6.1 DK / $6.4 FD)

The Golden Knights and Penguins have an over/under total of six tonight, which is the highest on the board. It’s a number that makes sense as both teams rank inside the top six in goals for since January first. Erik Haula skates in the middle of James Neal and David Perron, both of which are former Penguins. Whether you believe in revenge or not, those two wingers have been playing with a chip on their shoulder all season long. The trio have combined for 30 points in their last 10 games.

Others to consider: Blake Wheeler, Logan Couture & Bo Horvat

Wingers

Cam Atkinson vs. WAS ($5.5 DK / $6.0 FD)

Cam Atkinson has two goals and a point in all four games since returning from injury. Maybe most telling over those four games is that Atkinson has a total of 20 shots. He’s also played at least 19 minutes in three of the four games. Cam had 35 goals last season, and 27 the year before while putting up more than 200 shots in each of the last four seasons. Expect a strong second half after a slow start for Atkinson.

Jonathan Huberdeau vs. VAN ($6.7 DK / $6.9 FD)

Jonathan Huberdeau has an impressive 51 points in 50 games this season, and points in 14 of his last 16 games. Over that span the Panthers’ winger has nine goals and 19 points. He has at least one point in 11 of 12 games in 2018.

Rickard Rakell @ BUF ($7.0 DK / $6.8 FD)

There’s a bit more value for Rakell on FanDuel compared to DraftKings. Rackell has been all over the net of late, much like his linemate Getzlaf. The Ducks’ winger has 14 shots in his last three games, and he has eight points over a current four-game point streak. Rackell’s nine points over the last 14 days are only two behind Malkin, and he has seven goals and 14 points in his last 10 games.

Nikolaj Ehlers vs. ARI ($6.5 DK / $6.0 FD)

It’s not a bad idea to get some Jets in your lineups tonight as Winnipeg ranks fifth in goals per game and Arizona ranks second in goals allowed per game. Although, the Blake Wheeler line is solid, maybe look at the second line of Bryan Little, Mathieu Perreault and Nikolaj Ehlers. Perreault leads the Jets in points over the last 30 days, and the trio have combined for 12 points over the last 14 days. Ehlers has points in four of his last eight games with a total of 21 shots over that span.

Alex DeBrincat vs. CGY ($4.7 DK / $6.0 FD)

It’s hard to ignore the shot volume from Alex DeBrincat of late as he’s put 22 pucks on net over his last five games and he has four goals to show for it. There was a six-game stretch where DeBrincat played under 12 minutes in every game, but over his last five games he’s played north of 15 minutes per as he’s now skating with Jonathan Toews.

Others to consider: Taylor Hall, David Perron, Travis Konecny & Danton Heinen

Defensemen

Dustin Byfuglien vs. ARI ($5.9 DK / $5.1 FD)

The price has jumped over the past few days since the injury to Jacob Trouba, but it’s not high enough to avoid Dustin Byfuglien. He has two points in his last three games, but he’s played 25, 29 and 24 minutes over his last three games. Three of his last five points have come on the power play. Byfuglien is a steal on FanDuel.

Alexander Edler @ FLA ($5.8 DK / $5.2 FD)

Eight of Alexander Edler’s 16 points have come over his last 10 games, and half of those eight points have come on the power play. The Canucks don’t have a high powered offense, but Edler is on the number one power play unit. Edler has three games in his last 10 where he put up at least six shots on goal, which is telling because Florida has allowed the second most shots per game. Only six defensemen on DK tonight are averaging more fantasy points per game than Edler.

Justin Faulk vs. PHI ($4.6 DK / $4.5 FD)

Over the last 30 days, Justin Faulk is third among defensemen with six power play points, and 38 shots on goal. He only has four goals and 14 points on the season, but five of them have come over his last 10 games. He gets a ton of ice time and is skating on the number one PP unit.

Others to consider: Brent Burns, Sami Vatanen & Keith Yandle

Goalies

Connor Hellebuyck vs. ARI ($8.5 DK / $8.4 FD)

Connor Hellebuyck is the most expensive goalie on the DK slate tonight, but there are six goalies who will cost you more on FanDuel. Hellebuyck is a cash game play if you’re looking for the win. Tuukka Rask has the same appeal.

Carter Hutton vs. MIN ($8.0 DK / $9.1 FD)

Carter Hutton is on some kind of tear as he is the number one Fantasy Hockey goalie over the last 30 days. He’s won four straight games and he’s given up just two goals during that run. He owns a 14-4-1 record with a 1.61 GAA and .947 SV% on the season. He’s allowed one or zero goals in seven of his last eight outings.

Harri Sateri vs. VAN ($7.4 DK / $7.4 FD)

Harri Sateri allowed 14 goals over his first three starts, but has reeled off three straight wins since, allowing a total of five goals in those three games. He’s turned aside 88 of the last 93 shots he’s faced, and has a very winnable game tonight against Vancouver. Sateri is certainly risky, but he’ll save you some cash, and he’ll likely come with a low ownership number in tournaments. Sateri’s 160 saves over the last two weeks are the second most in the NHL.

*Keep an eye on who gets the start for San Jose tonight, as either Martin Jones or Aaron Dell make for solid options if you’re playing any late game contests. The Avalanche are a much different team with Nathan MacKinnon out of their lineup.
