Best NBA DFS Picks for February 8, 2018

Guards

Stephen Curry vs. DAL ($9.9k DraftKings, $9.8k FanDuel)
After losing three of their last four and suffering a beatdown at the hands of the Thunder on Tuesday, the Warriors are due to bounce back. This is a plum spot at home against the Mavericks. With Kevin Durant (hand) potentially limited, Steph Curry should lead the charge against a Dallas team that gives up the most PPG (23.9) to opposing PGs this season. The Mavs have given up tons of production to the Dubs sharpshooter in recent seasons. Curry dropped 29 points and eight assists in a 30-point blowout win over Dallas earlier this season and shot 11-of-19 from the field for 32 points in a 125-122 win in Dallas last month. He can clearly put up numbers whether this game remains close or not. Curry should bring laser focus tonight as Golden State looks to right the ship.

Kyrie Irving @ WAS ($7.9k DraftKings, $8.0k FanDuel)
This is a very intriguing price tag at which to take Kyrie Irving. He might be misconstrued as hobbled because he only produced 17 points in Tuesday’s blowout loss at Toronto. Yet he should be good to go tonight in a rivalry game against the John Wall-less Wizards. Tomas Satoransky stands no chance of guarding “Uncle Drew” while Bradley Beal and Otto Porter will be expending a lot of energy on the other end. Perhaps Kelly Oubre Jr. guards him later in the game, but otherwise Kyrie will be free to operate and get his 30-plus points while leading the Celtics in a bounce-back effort. With Jaylen Brown (ankle) questionable, Terry Rozier ($5.9k, $6.5k) is also a fantastic mid-tier option and is relatively under priced given his steady role even with Kyrie back.

Josh Hart vs. OKC ($5.5k DraftKings, $6.3k FanDuel)
Coaches reward effort, and Josh Hart is giving the Lakers everything he has of late. That’s translated to three consecutive double-doubles and a heavy dose of minutes. He’s going to have to play a lot as one of the better defensive options to try and stay in front of Russell Westbrook. Despite the ascendence of OKC’s offensive output, the Thunder allowed 113.5 PPG over four February contests. Even at a rising price tag, Hart is a solid Cash option given his increased role with Lonzo Ball (knee) on the shelf, plus the recent trade of Jordan Clarkson opens up more minutes in the short term until Isaiah Thomas can get on the court for the Lakers.

Others to Consider: Bradley Beal, Kemba Walker, Terry Rozier, Klay Thompson, Wesley Matthews, Jeremy Lamb, D.J. Augustin

Paul George @ LAL ($8.8k DraftKings, $8.6k FanDuel)
While Russell Westbrook got it started with an incredible first half two nights ago, Paul George closed out the Warriors with a dynamic second half. He finished with a game-high 38 points on 11-of-23 shooting in a decisive win. He was clearly inspired to take on Kevin Durant in a premier matchup at SF. The L.A. native should maintain high levels of motivation as he visits Staples Center tonight. George’s 26 points weren’t enough to beat the Lakers in a recent home game. Plus, he never got a chance to blow up in front of friends and family when the Thunder won by 37 points in L.A. last month. But perhaps this game stays close enough for PG to post another eye-popping line while Russell Westbrook (ankle) and Carmelo Anthony (ankle) rest their ailing limbs.

Michael Beasley @ TOR ($6.3k DraftKings, $6.2k FanDuel)
With Kristaps Porzingis (knee) done for the year and Enes Kanter (mouth) out tonight, the Knicks are likely to get blown out in Toronto. The Raptors are averaging 116.8 PPG while winning five of their last six. They’re also 22-4 at home this season, so the Knicks have little chance to compete for four quarters. That being said, Michael Beasley is worth a look as a reserve. The former No. 2 overall pick has never been shy about firing away and could finish the game regardless of the score. He’s posting a 31.8 percent usage rate while averaging 1.13 FPs per minute when Porzingis is off the floor and sees a 4.2 percent rise in usage (to 34.8) when Kanter departs the court as well.

Mario Hezonja vs. ATL ($5.3k DraftKings, $5.4k FanDuel)
He was relatively quiet with 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists in Tuesday’s comeback win over the listless Cavs, but Mario Hezonja remains an excellent value option tonight since Jonathon Simmons (ankle) could be limited and Elfrid Payton was just traded to Phoenix. Aaron Gordon (hip) has been ruled out for a sixth straight game, and Hezonja has scored in double figures in the previous five. Meanwhile, Nikola Vucevic (hand) is out and Hezonja is sporting a 21.2 percent usage rate when Vucevic, Gordon, and Payton are off the floor this year and is facing a weak Hawks team that ranks 26th in defensive rating.

Others to Consider: Otto Porter, Nic Batum, Jonathon Simmons, Jerami Grant, Marcus Morris, Taurean Prince, Kelly Oubre Jr.

Center

Dwight Howard @ POR ($8.3k DraftKings, $8.2k FanDuel)
No longer very expensive on either main DFS site, Dwight Howard is still clearly the center with the most upside tonight. He slowed down in a blowout loss at Denver but has otherwise remained hot after a torrid January with averages of 18.5 PPG and 11.8 RPG over his last six appearances. Portland center Jusuf Nurkic has been very inconsistent this year, and Howard grabbed 15 boards against the slower big man earlier this season. The Blazers’ aggressive guards lead to their team allowing the sixth-most BPG (5.1), so perhaps the resurgent “Superman” will add some swats to a likely double-double in a high-scoring affair.

Steven Adams @ LAL ($6.7k DraftKings, $6.9k FanDuel)
Steven Adams is a machine on both ends of the floor and is quite clearly one of the most improved players in the NBA this year. Even while contending with some horrible calls for some unearned foul trouble on Tuesday, he produced a double-double in a fast-paced game against the Warriors. Now, he’ll face a Lakers team that leads the league in pace and gives up the seventh-most RPG (45.3) this season. Adams leads the league with a 17.4 percent offensive rebounding rate, and he’s cleaning up on dropdown passes from Westbrook as well.

Others to Consider: Al Horford, Jonas Valanciunas, Brook Lopez, Kyle O’Quinn
