Sidney Crosby vs. OTT ($7.3 DK / $9.0 FD)
Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin lead the NHL with 27 points since Jan. 1. That’s 54 combined points in their last 17 games. You can’t go wrong with either player tonight, but you’ll save yourself a couple bucks if you go with Sid. Crosby has 14 points in his last 10 games, plus 29 shots in his last seven. Ottawa has also allowed 60 goals since the first of the year (the fourth most). They have the fifth-worst PK since that time. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh’s 15 power-play goals over that time span are the second most, and they own the league’s best PP. Ottawa’s PK ranks 28th overall.
Brayden Point @ BUF ($5.8 DK / $5.7 FD)
Brayden Point is an absolute steal tonight on both FanDuel and DraftKings. He was on a line last night with Nikita Kucherov (NHL point leader), and you can count on the two playing tonight again tonight. Point has played at least 20 minutes in three straight games. He has seven points in his last 10 games, good for 50 in just 58 games this season.
Pierre-Luc Dubois @ NYI ($4.6 DK / $5.6 FD)
Pierre-Luc Dubois is trending up in a hurry as he skates on the top line with Artemi Panarin and Cam Atkinson. The trio has combined for 14 points in its last seven games. Dubois has goals in back-to-back games and points in three of his last four games. He also has 13 shots in his last four games, and is getting time on the power play. This is also a fantastic matchup.
Others to consider: Logan Couture, Eric Staal, Erik Haula
Yanni Gourde @ BUF ($5.6 DK / $5.4 FD)
Yanni Gourde has four goals and nine points (three on the power play) over a current six-game point streak. He has points in nine of his last 10 games, with a total of seven goals and 12 points over that span. He’s now skating alongside Steven Stamkos and has a date with the Buffalo Sabres tonight. His ownership may be high due to his recent run, but his price is too nice to pass up.
Cam Atkinson @ NYI (5.9 DK / $5.9 FD)
Cam Atkinson has two goals, five points, and 31 shots on goals in seven games since returning from injury. He’s played at least 19 minutes in four of those games and has a power-play point as well. His 27 shots over the last two weeks are the sixth most in the NHL. The Islanders have allowed a league-high 725 shots and 71 goals since Jan. 1.
Bryan Rust vs. OTT ($4.5 DK / $4.0 FD)
Bryan Rust was a play last week because he was benefiting from playing with Sidney Crosby. Well, a week later, Rust is still benefiting from playing with Crosby. Rust has played at least 18 minutes in three of his last four games. He has three points over that span, and nine in his last 10 games.
Sam Reinhart vs. TB ($4.4 DK / $4.8 FD)
Sam Reinhart is more of a tournament play, and someone to keep an eye on going forward. Reinhart is feeling it of late with six points in his last four games and 11 in his last 10. His ice time is expected to go up as well with the loss of Jack Eichel.
Travis Konecny vs. NJ ($5.4 DK / $5.6 FD)
Travis Konecny is another value play tonight benefiting from playing in a top six role. Konecny has three multi-point games in his last five contests. Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier are two of the hottest players going in the NHL, but they are expensive. Konecny is the third member of the line who will save you a ton of cash. He has six goals and 10 points in his last 10 games.
Others to consider: Brad Marchand, Rickard Rakell, Jason Zucker, Nick Foligno, Kevin Labanc
Seth Jones @ NYI ($6.2 DK / $5.6 FD)
The New York Islanders have allowed 18 goals in their last four games and at least four goals in five of their last seven games. Seth Jones’ 26:09 minutes per game over the last month ranks fifth in the NHL. As a result, he has points in five of his last eight games. Jones’s has been even better of late with 21 shots and three points in his last four games.
Shayne Gostisbehere vs. NJ ($5.5 DK / $6.7 FD)
Shayne Gostisbehere is a must-play due to the fact he has nine points in his last six games. Over those six games, he has five power-play points and 16 shots on goal. He also has 19 blocks over that span, which is a bonus on DraftKings. Two weeks ago, Gostisbehere had a goal and an assist to go along with six shots against the Devils. His 40 shots over the last month rank third among defensemen. He should be in the $6K range on DK. Simply put his price has not caught up to his production. The Devils are also without Cory Schneider.
Matt Dumba vs. NYR ($4.9 DK / $4.5 FD)
The New York Rangers have allowed the third-most shots and the second-most goals since the calendar turned to 2018. They also just released a letter to their fans saying a rebuild is coming. A mini-Minnesota Wild stack is a pretty good idea. Matt Dumba has points in three straight games and seven in his last 10. Three of those seven points came on the power play. The Wild have the fourth-best PP percentage (27.7) since Jan. 1, and the Rangers have been shorthanded the sixth-most since that time.
Brady Skjei @ MIN ($3.9 DK / $4.6 FD)
This is a punt play if you need to save some cash at the position. Brady Skjei has played 26 and 25 minutes in the last two games and logged an assist in each. One of his assists came on the power play, where he also finished the game with five blocks. With Ryan McDonagh, Kevin Shattenkirk, and Marc Staal sidelined, there’s plenty of opportunity for Skjei.
Others to consider: Brent Burns, Kris Letang, Torey Krug, Rasmus Ristolainen
Louis Domingue @ BUF ($8.0 DK / $7.6 FD)
Andrei Vasilevskiy and the Tampa Bay Lightning played last night, so Louis Domingue should get the call tonight. Buffalo’s 16 wins this season are the second fewest in the NHL, and they’ll be without their best offensive weapon in Jack Eichel. Domingue will save you a few bucks on FanDuel.
Braden Holtby @ WPG ($7.2 DK / $9.3 FD)
What a huge difference in price here tonight between FanDuel and DraftKings. Braden Holtby is the third-most expensive goalie on FD tonight making him a pass. But on DK, there are 35 goalies who have higher prices than he does. Holtby has had his struggles this season but is still one of the best in the game. He registered back-to-back eight-point performances (DK) last week against the Blue Jackets. He most certainly can return value tonight while saving you a few bucks in the process.
Martin Jones vs. ARI ($8.5 DK / $8.3 FD)
The same thing can be said here about Martin Jones, but instead, he’s a fade on DraftKings and a play on FanDuel. Jones is the most expensive goalie on DK tonight due to the fact he’s going up against the Coyotes. They have not only the fewest wins in the NHL but also the fewest since Jan. 1. Their 41 goals as a team over those 15 games are the second fewest.
Others to consider: Matt Murray, John Gibson, Devan Dubnyk
