MLB DFS DraftKings.com & FanDuel.com Lineups & Picks for April 9, 2018

10 games on the main MLB DFS slate for Monday, 4/9/18. Below is a list of our top MLB DFS picks for pitchers, hitters, and stacks to target in Cash and GPP lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. The info below can also be used for creating your daily fantasy baseball strategy at FantasyDraft.

Please note the advice below is relevant for daily fantasy purposes. A player or team might be better or worse from a fantasy perspective than in real life due to matchup, price, and lots of other factors. This is important to consider when constructing a roster. Remember that more than in other sports, variance is a huge part of baseball. Even Paul Goldschmidt can go 0-for-4 on a given night, and Max Scherzer can get lit up by an unsuspecting team.

Weather can also play a huge role in MLB DFS on a nightly basis, and lineups are constantly shifting. So always, always check the starting lineups and weather reports when playing for an MLB slate.

Best MLB DFS Pitchers for April 9, 2018

Noah Syndergaard @ MIA ($12.3 DK / $10.8 FD)

This is a bit of a no-brainer as the Marlins rank 26th in runs (24) and 25th in average (.216). Shohei Ohtani has more home runs than Miami and he’s only had 18 at-bats. This is a much better matchup for Noah Syndergaard than it is Max Scherzer as Atlanta leads the league in runs scored. Syndergaard has allowed six earned runs in his two starts, but he’s racked up 17 strikeouts over 10 innings.

Jon Gray vs SD ($7.9 DK / $7.7 FD)

Jon Gray faces the Padres for the second straight start and if it’s anything like his last you’ll want to use him. It’s always tougher for a pitcher to go up against the same team twice in less than a week, especially if he was successful. It’s part of the reason for the low price tag. That and the fact he’s making his first start this season at Coors Field. It’s also the reason you may get him at low ownership making him one of the better tournament plays. Gray allowed two or fewer runs in five of his eight home starts last season and he had a 48 percent groundball rate overall.  The Rockies’ ace allowed only four hits over seven scoreless innings while striking out seven on his way to 30.8 DraftKings points Wednesday in SD. The Padres have the sixth highest strikeout rate (24.9%).

Dyland Bundy vs. TOR ($8.1 DK / $8.6 FD)

Dylan Bundy has looked rock solid over his first two outings: 15 strikeouts and one earned run in 13 innings. Last season he racked up 22 strikeouts over 19 innings against Toronto, and although it’s a bit of a different Blue Jays team, they have the fifth highest K-Rate on the season. He’s highly unlikely to maintain a double-digit K-Rate, and he has a high fly ball percentage making him a tournament play only. Bundy did not throw a sinker last season and so far he’s thrown it 13.9 percent of the time, and the fastball a bit less. It seems to be working, so why not ride it out?

Others to consider: Justin Verlander, Garrett Richards, Zack Godley

Best MLB DFS hitters for April 9, 2018

Travis Shaw @ STL ($3.5 DK / $4.0 FD)

Miles Mikolas’ second MLB start in four years will come against the Brewers again and he didn’t fair too well in his first outing against them as he allowed four runs on seven hits. Mikolas produced seven fly balls, three of which went for home runs. Eric Thames took Mikolas deep and is worth a look tonight, but Travis Shaw should be back in his cleanup spot Monday after getting the day off Sunday. Shaw only has one home run on the season, but he has 11 hits on the year and had 31 dingers last season.

David Peralta @ SF ($4.3 DK / $3.6 FD)

David Peralta hit his second home run of the season Sunday to push his average to .324. He’s been very productive out of the leadoff spot, and the Diamondbacks have been one of the better teams against lefties over the past couple seasons led by Peralta, A.J. Pollock, and of course Paul Goldschmidt. Derek Holland was roughed up in his first start (five runs and three walks), and he was roughed up a ton last season (6.20 ERA, 5.00 BB/9). He also had a 40 percent fly ball rate and a 82.7 percent contact rate in 2017.

Michael Conforto @ MIA ($4.0 DK / $3.8 FD)

Michael Conforto has a double and a home run in his first three games since returning from an injury. He’s also hitting leadoff and is in a great spot tonight against Jose Urena who has allowed six runs, two home runs and has issued five walks over 11 innings this season. His contact percentage is at 82 which sits inside the top 20 among pitchers with 10 innings. Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier are both lighter on the wallet as the Mets make for an affordable stack. Yoenis Cespedes is surprisingly the same price as Conforto on FanDuel.

Maikel Franco vs. CIN ($4.0 DK / $3.3 FD)

Maikel Franco took a step back in 2017, but in 2016 he hit 25 home runs and had a .286 average against left-handed pitching. This season he has two home runs and nine RBI on four hits against lefties. It’s a small sample size, but you’re going to want to get some Phillies in your lineup. Their .401 team wOBA against LHP is the number one mark and Cody Reed has allowed 15 home runs and 58 runs over 65.1 career innings. Reed also has a ridiculous 5.23 BB/9. Franco enters tonight’s game with four extra-base hits and 10 RBI in his last three games. Odubel Herrera should be on your radar as well.

Trey Mancini vs. TOR ($3.2 DK / $2.8 FD)

Trey Mancini has hit out of the leadoff spot for the last four games and he has six hits and three walks to show for it. Mancini led the Orioles with 46 hits of LHP last season, and 10 of them were extra base hits. J.A. Happ has allowed three home runs so far (all to guys who crush lefties), and Mancini had 24 last year.

Others to consider: Carlos Santana, Ryan Zimmerman, Jonathan Schoop (10 HR off LHP in 2017), DJ LeMahieu, Trea Turner, Elvis Andrus, Yangervis Solarte, Marcell Ozuna, Justin Upton, Chris Innetta
