We have a short slate of 6 games in the late MLB action today. We will go over a few of our favorite pitchers and stacks and round it out with a few bats to consider. Not many options tonight so there should be a lot of overlap in GPP tourneys across the industry.
Brewers @ Braves(-130) 7
Cubs @ Padres(-115) 7
Angels @ Blue Jays(-125) 8.5
Athletics @ Rays(-125) 7.5
Rangers @ Red Sox(-165) 8.5
Indians(-115) @ White Sox 8.5
Danny Salazar, Cleveland Indians (FD $8900, DK $9300) – Needed to list a pitcher from tonight’s slate and that, almost by default, is Salazar. Salazar is coming off of a rough start his last time out and is capable of having blow up starts in succession, however I think his stuff plays well against a White Sox lineup that generally does not offer a ton of pop. He has 52 K’s so far in 2015 through 37.2 innings pitched. The one worry is the long ball as he has given up 7 home runs in his 6 ML starts so far this season.
Kyle Hendricks, Chicago Cubs (FD $6100, DK $6700) – I keep waiting to see Hendricks put it all together in a start as he has strike out upside to go along with 7 shutout inning upside. He seems to be hitting a wall in the 6th inning as he has only completed 6 innings just once so far this season. Wada showed us last night that this Padres offense is very strikeout prone but also that they can be dangerous with the long ball at any point, even if the pitcher is breezing through. Hendricks is a slight underdog but the game does offer an over/under of just 7 runs tonight.
Jesse Chavez, Oakland A’s (FD $7600, DK $7200) – I am a big fan of Chavez and feel like he should have been in the rotation from the start of 2015. Despite having been a reliever to start the season, Chavez is throwing around 100 pitches per start and gets to take on a sneaky Tampa Bay team tonight. I say Tampa Bay is sneaky because they tend to find ways to put up a few runs even in the toughest of match-ups. The A’s offense has not been doing much of late either and that is probably the reason why the Rays are a -125 favorite tonight. I think Chavez makes the perfect SP2 option on DK and a pure GPP choice on FD.
Chicago Cubs: Dexter Fowler (FD $3500, DK $4000), Kris Bryant (FD $4000, DK $4500), Anthony Rizzo (FD $4500, DK $4900), Miguel Montero (FD $3000, DK $3300) – Vegas has this game with an over/under of just 7 runs, but that just does not make sense to me as this Cubs offense is extremely dangerous and they take on a pitcher who pitches to contact. That pitcher has also given up 19 runs, 24 hits and 4 home runs while striking out just 3 batters over his last 9.2 innings. I would certainly think about including Castro and Soler as well, depending on how the lineup shakes out.
Milwaukee Brewers: Carlos Gomez (FD $2500, DK $4800), Ryan Braun (FD $3100, DK $4400), Adam Lind (FD $4200, DK $3800) – I think the Brewers are my favorite stack as most people are going to see Teheran as the opposing pitcher and generally steer clear. If you look into Teheran’s numbers more, you see a pitcher that is very prone to the long ball as he has given up 9 over his last 6 starts. This Brewers squad can certainly hit home runs in bunches and this is the type of boom or bust match-up that could shoot you up a GPP leader board.
Prince Fielder, Texas Rangers
Hanley Ramirez, Boston Red Sox
Kole Calhoun, LA Angels
Kris Bryant, Chicago Cubs
