We have an interesting slate here tonight as its a normal short Monday night slate with some really solid pitching match-ups, which is apparent in the low over/unders for tonight. We have two games at or below 6.5 and just two games at or above 8.5 runs. The pitching ownership should be highly spread out tonight but I can see a number of people being on the chalk stacks in GPPs.
|Home||Away||Spread Home||Over/Under Goals|
|Washington Nationals||Toronto Blue Jays||-1.5||7.5|
|Miami Marlins||Chicago Cubs||1.5||7.5|
|Boston Red Sox||Minnesota Twins||-1.5||8|
|St. Louis Cardinals||Milwaukee Brewers||-1.5||7|
|Houston Astros||Baltimore Orioles||-1.5||8|
|Colorado Rockies||Los Angeles Dodgers||1.5||9|
|Arizona Diamondbacks||Atlanta Braves||1.5||9|
|LAA Angels||Tampa Bay Rays||-1.5||7|
|San Diego Padres||New York Mets||-1.5||6.5|
|Seattle Mariners||New York Yankees||-1.5||6|
|San Francisco Giants||Pittsburgh Pirates||1.5||7|
Clayton Kershaw, LA Dodgers (FD $11,800, DK $10,700) – Kershaw travels to Colorado to take on the Rockies tonight and is a -220 road favorite. Kershaw is coming off of a masterful performance against the Braves his last time out and now gets to face a Rockies team that got to him for 5 earned in 5.2 innings this year at Coors Field on May 10th. Kershaw was “struggling” at that point and that performance might not bear anything on the game tonight. The Rockies do have a couple of right handed bats swinging it very well so it will be an interesting match-up.
Felix Hernandez, Seattle Mariners (FD $12,000, DK $11,600) – King Felix gets to pitch at home against the New York Yankees in a “revenge” game for the Yankees starter, Michael Pineda. Felix and the Mariners are -160 favorites in this game, while it offers us the lowest over/under on the board at 6 runs. Felix is coming off of a complete game shutout the last time out and this Yankee offense was just shut down by Jesse Chavez yesterday. I really like Felix in this one, but you will have to pay a premium for him.
Gerrit Cole, Pittsburgh Pirates (FD $10,100, DK $9900) – Cole gets to face off with a shockingly strong Giants offense in a game with an over/under of just 6.5 runs tonight. Cole and the Pirates are -135 favorites tonight as well. Cole has been ridiculously solid this season as he has allowed more than 2 runs in just 1 start and that start only yielded 3 runs allowed. He is basically averaging 8 K’s per start, or roughly 12 per 9 innings.
Jaime Garcia, St Louis Cardinals (FD $7100, DK $6800) – Garcia has not been all too crisp yet in his return from surgery but I like his chances against a Brewers team that just went 17 innings last night. The Brewers pen has been depleted and they had to move Fiers up a day to start, which means this pick is based more on the fact that I think the Cardinals get the win in this one than Garcia being able to rack up K’s. Initially the match-up looks rough as the Brewers have some pretty strong right handed bats in their lineup but their roster as a whole have hit just .239 against Garcia over 134 at-bats. Garcia and the Cardinals are -160 home favorites in this one.
Mike Pelfrey, Minnesota Twins (FD $6900, DK $4600) – I know, I know, I may need to go see a doctor for recommending Mike Pelfrey today. He offers extreme SP2 savings on DK tonight and would certainly fit very well next to King Felix in your lineups. Pelfrey has been pitching extremely well in 2015 as he has an ERA of just 2.77. He takes on a Red Sox squad that he just went 7 innings against while allowing just 1 run and he picked up the win in that game. Since his first start of the year, he has allowed more than 2 runs just once and that was to the tough lineup of the Detroit Tigers. The Red Sox are sizable favorites at -165 in this one, however the Twins have been one of the best teams in baseball over the last month.
Jacob deGrom, NY Mets (FD $9900, DK $9700) – The GPP plays list is going to look somewhat like it should be a studs list as deGrom is the first one listed today. The Mets travel to San Diego to take on Cashner and the Padres tonight in a game with an over/under of just 6.5. The Padres are a very small -113 favorite in this game and it basically comes down to which of the two starting pitchers do you think is in the best spot for the win. I actually think that is deGrom as he has been pitching better than Cashner this year.
Michael Pineda, NY Yankees (FD $9700, DK $8800) – The second GPP play brings us Pineda who is facing off against King Felix and the Mariners in Seattle with an over/under of just 6 runs. Like I said earlier, it is a “revenge” game for Pineda as the Mariners gave up on him and traded him for who they thought was a big time prospect in Jesus Montero. Pineda has been filthy all season long and could certainly shut down this Mariners offense. He just does not have the complete shut down game that King Felix has.
LA Dodgers: Joc Pederson (FD $3400, DK $4900), Adrian Gonzalez (FD $3800, DK $5000), Howie Kendrick (FD $2800, DK $5000), Yasmani Grandal (FD $2700, DK $4200) – The Dodgers get to take their hacks @ Coors Field tonight against Kyle Kendrick and his 13 HR’s allowed in 2015. I left out Rollins because he recently had been in the 8 spot so it’ll be interesting to see what the lineup is like as I would certainly look to include who is in the 2 spot as well as Ethier.
Arizona Diamondbacks: Ender Inciarte (FD $3100, DK $3400), AJ Pollock (FD $4200, DK $4200), Paul Goldschmidt (FD $5200, DK $5300), Mark Trumbo (FD $3600, DK $3900) – The D’Backs have been the stack to have over the last few games and I look for that to continue tonight against Wood and the Braves. Pay attention to the lineup but I believe these should be the top 4 against the lefty tonight. I would also include Tomas in a 5 man stack on DK tonight.
Chicago Cubs: Dexter Fowler (FD $3600, DK $4400), Kris Bryant (FD $4100, DK $5000), Anthony Rizzo (FD $4600, DK $5200) – I can argue to take a Cubs stack every day/night that they are on the schedule as the top of this lineup is extremely explosive. I like them up against the rookie Urena tonight. I would pay attention to the lineup as Fowler has spent some time in the clean-up spot recently and Castro, Montero, Coghlan are all intriguing options to add to a stack.
St Louis Cardinals: Kolton Wong (FD $3500, DK $3900), Matt Carpenter (FD $3900, DK $4300), Jhonny Peralta (FD $3400, DK $4200) – I left Matt Holiday out because he has been under the weather and I have not seen a lineup yet today. Should he be in his normal 3 spot, he certainly should be added to any stack you run out there. Fiers is a high strikeout pitcher but is prone to big innings and the long ball. Peralta is swinging a hot bat and the two lefties at the top of the order seem to always be on base.
Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals
Hanley Ramirez, Boston Red Sox
Andrew McCutchen, Pittsburgh Pirates
Jung Ho Kang, Pittsburgh Pirates
Steven Souza Jr, Tampa Bay Rays
Albert Pujols, LA Angels
Kole Calhoun, LA Angels
Preston Tucker, Houston Astros
Paul Goldschmidt, Arizona Diamondbacks
(I wanted to go Joc Pederson but Goldschmidt is ridiculous right now)
