Tonight’s slate features 6 games and both FanDuel and DraftKings are guaranteeing over $250K! This week’s rundown will provide 3 of the best games to target for fantasy purposes. Following this, I will give you a list of my top 3 pitchers on the day. Please leave feedback @tbadger23 so I can continue to improve this article!
**Our NASCAR article will go live tonight following the start of the final MLB game. Please check it out! It’s such a fun sport and is gaining popularity!**
Pittsburgh (LHP Jeff Locke) @ Atlanta (RHP Julio Teheran)
Over/Under: 8.0 Favorite: EVEN
Jeff Locke (FD: $6,700 DK: $5,900) has never been a great fantasy pitcher due to his lack of strikeouts, and today is no exception. Atlanta bats are RED HOT right now and Locke has allowed 15 runs in his last 19.1 IP. Stay away in ALL formats.
Julio Teheran (FD: $7,800 DK: $7,400) is at a depressed price on both sites and is in a nice spot here. I guess Vegas really considers Atlanta’s awful bullpen recently, because I see them a decent favorite today. Teheran has posted a 1.82 ERA in 24.2 IP at home. His biggest flaw has been the HR ball, which he’s allowed 12 of. However, only 2 have come at home. If he can avoid the long ball, I think he makes out okay tonight.
I’m going to try to highlight one batter in each spot here, and for Pittsburgh that bat will be Gregory Polanco (FD: $3,000, DK: $3,400). Polanco has a 9-game hitting streak going and is 9/25 (.360) over the last week with 1 HR and 4 steals. Teheran has allowed LH batters to post a line of .350 / .432 / .602.
Jonny Gomes (FD: $2,200 DK: $2,800) is dirt cheap on both sites tonight and has posted a career .373 wOBA and .206 ISO vs. LHP. He won’t take up much salary and provides upside. I love Gomes in this spot tonight.
Detroit (LHP David Price) @ Chicago White Sox (LHP John Danks)
Over/Under: 7.5 Favorite: DET (-160)
David Price (FD: $11,000 DK: $10,200) is the 3rd biggest favorite on the mound today and rightfully so. I think he’s too much on FanDuel as I’d rather pay up for Kershaw or Hernandez. Otherwise, the Sox are ranked 29th in the league vs. LHP with a pitiful line of .209 / .245 /.279. If you’re playing DK today, I love Price here. On FanDuel, the price of the top 2 pitchers (no pun intended) makes him a solid GPP play.
John Danks (FD: $6,200 DK: $5,700) has the 8th highest fly-ball rate and more fly balls mean the HR chances go up. His HR/9 rate is at 1.40 and you can bet the Tigers will hit at least one long ball tonight. Avoid him in all formats.
There’s many options I could put here but I love J.D. Martinez (FD: $3,100 DK: $4,500) who has always excelled vs. LHP with a career .354 wOBA and .200 ISO. There are a ton of Tigers that are in great spots tonight so make sure Martinez is a part of your Tigers stack.
I really don’t love any White Sox batters tonight but if I were to pick one with upside, I’d go with Avisail Garcia (FD: $2,500 DK: $3,600) who homered last night and has homered once off of Price in his 7 career AB’s against him. He’s worth a shot in GPP’s.
New York Mets (RHP Bartolo Colon) @ Arizona (RHP Chase Anderson)
Over/Under: 8.5 Favorite: ARI (-124)
I’m going to take the over on the total today. I don’t like either pitcher outside of a DEEP GPP play today. Colon (FD: $7,800 DK: $6,900) has allowed 3 or more earned runs in 9 of his 11 starts on the year including a home run in 9 of those 11. I’ll be avoiding him here.
Chase Anderson (FD: $6,600, DK: $5,500) has avoided the HR ball for the most part but his low 6.08 K/9 rate limits his upside and therefore, I’ll be avoiding him as well.
Okay, now we’re talking. It’s not a matter of IF the D-Backs will homer tonight, it’s more a question of who it will be. I’ll avoid the obvious here and go with A.J. Pollock (FD: $4,600 DK: $4,600) who has 2 HR’s over his last 7 games and is batting a cool .476 to start the month of June. FanDuel has quickly adjusted his price to reflect his hot hitting and he’s too much there in my opinion. 6 of Pollock’s 7 HR’s have come vs. RHP and he makes a real nice play on DK tonight.
The Mets are a less intriguing option tonight but still should put up a solid 3-5 runs. Lucas Duda (FD: $3,700 DK: $4,900) has been excellent vs. RHP this year posting an incredible .454 wOBA. Duda is a perfect cash game play tonight with a high floor and also comes with upside for GPP’s,
Top 3 Pitchers (in order):
1. LHP Clayton Kershaw (FD: $11,700, DK: $12,400)
2. RHP Felix Hernandez (FD: $11,800 DK: $11,500)
3. David Price (FD: $11,000 DK: $10,200)
Thank you all for reading and good luck tonight!!
