We have a split slate of MLB action today. With 8 games making up the early slate and only 3 games making up the late slate. We will mainly target the early slate with some plays in our MLB DFS Strategy. Lets check out the game lines and then get into my favorite pitchers and stacks for your FanDuel and DraftKings lineups.

Sonny Gray, Oakland Athletics (FD $10,100, DK $9500) – I shouldn’t have to say much about Sonny Gray as he has been filthy all season long. He is coming off of a slight hiccup but gets to take on the Texas Rangers in this one and I think he is in a great spot to pick up the win and throw 7+ innings with upwards of 10 K’s.
Jacob deGrom, New York Mets (FD $10,800, DK $10,100) – deGrom faces off with the Brewers today and he should be in a great spot to put up a lot of points. The one big issue is the Mets offense has really struggled and they have lost 7 straight games. I like deGrom’s chances to put up a nice fantasy outing, however I am doubting his ability to get the W today.
Dallas Keuchel, Houston Astros (FD $9800, DK $9000) – Keuchel seems to be under priced to me and should be able to pick apart a somewhat solid Yankees lineup. They tend to hit right handed pitching a lot better than left handed, which bodes very well for Keuchel. I think the Astros offense can get to Warren early and provide Keuchel with the cushion.
Chris Heston, San Francisco Giants (FD $7400, DK $7500) – Heston has been spectacular at times and he has been terrible at other times. I like his chances of being spectacular against the Padres in this one as the Padres offense was just shut down by Vogelsong last night and we know that Heston is a better pitcher than Vogelsong is right now. The W might be hard to come by with the Padres running out James Shields.
Eduardo Rodriguez, Boston Red Sox (FD $7800, DK $7600) – I love this rookie and think that he makes one of the best options for today as I think he is too under priced in a match-up against an Orioles lineup that has been without its best player of late. The Orioles certainly are dangerous and usually very dangerous against left handed pitching, however I just do not see a lineup that plugs Chris Parmalee into the three hole doing much damage.
Lance Lynn, St Louis Cardinals (FD $8900, DK $9200) – Lynn is being activated from the DL to make his return today and gets to take on a Marlins offense that has been putrid outside of the hitting of Gordon and the ridiculous power of Stanton. I think Lynn continues what Garcia started last night and shuts this team down. However, because of the injury and the fact he is facing Stanton he is a GPP play for me.
A.J. Burnett, Pittsburgh Pirates (FD $9200, DK $9700) – Burnett has not looked great his last handful of starts however I think he is in a good spot to pick up for Gerrit Cole’s rough outing yesterday as the Reds generally do not scare many pitchers. Burnett has been filthy most of this season and I think he steps up and shuts down the Reds offense.
Arizona Diamondbacks: A.J. Pollock (FD $4500, DK $4800), Paul Goldschmidt (FD $6000, DK $6300), Yasmany Tomas (FD $3600, DK $4400), Wellington Castillo (FD $3200, DK $3300) – The final game in the series at Coors gets to see the D’Backs take on a lefty and that is exactly where I want them to be. They closed out last night’s game extremely well and I look for that to carry over to this afternoon. I would pay attention to the lineup and consider including whoever is in the 2 spot as well as Aaron Hill.
Detroit Tigers: Rajai Davis (FD $2800, DK $4100), Miguel Cabrera (FD $5200, DK $5700), Yoenis Cespedes (FD $3700, DK $4800), J.D. Martinez (FD $3700, DK $4900) – The Tigers bats might be starting to come alive a little bit and they face a rookie lefty in Carlos Rodon. I think V-Mart, Kinsler and even Romine are options to be added to a Tigers stack, but for my money I want the 4 listed above as Rajai brings some interesting things to the table in the lead off spot and the other 3 have multi home run upside.
Colorado Rockies: Charlie Blackmon (FD $4600, DK $4800), Troy Tulowitzki (FD $4400, DK $5500), Nolan Arenado (FD $4800, DK $5700) – The other part of the Coors field game has the Rockies taking on Rubby De La Rosa. I think the D’Backs offense is in a better spot, however the Rockies should put up a few runs as well. I would pay attention the lineup as this screams Tulo rest day. I think Paulsen and McKenry make interesting options for the Rockies.
Chicago Cubs: Kris Bryant (FD $4000, DK $5000), Anthony Rizzo (FD $4500, DK $5300), Starlin Castro (FD $2400, DK $3800) – I love the Cubs’ explosive offense and they take on Carlos Frias. I wish Montero would be in the lineup but I am assuming David Ross will be behind the plate to catch Lester. Should Dexter Fowler be back in the lineup, I would definitely insert him ahead of Starlin Castro. I would not be afraid to just mini stack this team either and roll with Bryant and Rizzo.
There are a decent amount of pitching options tonight as you could make a case for guys like Shields, Gonzalez, Simon and even Jungmann. I think the righties of the Dodgers could be sneaky against Lester today as well as the A’s left handed bats and I think the Cardinals could make a sneaky stack against Haren. Hopefully you guys pulled a few teams through in the DK Medium Survivor and you can take today to really get started on your research for Friday as that Survivor’s 3rd round is tomorrow instead of today. I forgot to mention the Pirates bats as options as I think they are always capable of exploding and providing numerous extra base hits along with some steals at the top of their order.
