We have an 11 game MLB DFS slate tonight with some of the biggest GPPs in the industry. FanDuel and DraftKings have come out with huge guaranteed prize pools for tonight. Someone is going to take home 100K on DraftKings off of a $5 entry. Lets get into the best pitchers and stacks to target for tonights games in our MLB DFS Strategy.
Chris Sale, Chicago White Sox (FD $11,500, DK $12,700) – The initial response is, uh oh!!! Sale faces the potent offense that is the Toronto Blue Jays tonight. Sale is sitting at a -126 favorite and the game has an over/under that started at 7 and has creeped up to 7.5 as of now. Sale is going for his 9th straight double digit strikeout game, which would be an MLB record. One of the more impressive things is the fact that over his 8 double digit strikeout starts, he has walked just 9 batters. Eliminating walks is a huge thing against the Blue Jays as it keeps them from hitting 2 and 3 run bombs, which help a pitcher stay in the game.
Carlos Carrasco, Cleveland Indians (FD $9700, DK $10,200) – The best pitching match-up of the night is in this game as Carrasco gets to oppose Dallas Keuchel in Cleveland tonight. Carrasco is coming off of a near no-hitter and has been absolutely dominant against the Astros in his career as they have just a .134 average against him and have 29 strikeouts in just 67 at bats. Carrasco and the Indians are sitting at a -110 favorite and the game has an over/under of 7 runs.
Dallas Keuchel, Houston Astros (FD $10,300, DK $9700) – Keuchel is the other side of the Indians-Astros tilt and has been pitching better than pretty much every other pitcher in the AL so far in 2015. He shutout the Indians over 7 innings earlier this season. Keuchel absolutely dominates left handed hitters as they have hit just .126 against him this season. I was a bit shocked to see that the Indians have a career .270 average against him which has me thinking I lean towards Carrasco, however I think both make great GPP options, especially on DK.
Chris Heston, San Francisco Giants (FD $7300, DK $6300) – Heston gets to face off with the New York Mets tonight and for those of you that have been under a rock, he gets to face them for the first time since no hitting them this season. That no hitter came with 11 strikeouts, which is extremely nice K upside from a ground ball pitcher. Heston and the Giants are -133 favorites even though they have lost 6 straight.
Mark Buehrle, Toronto Blue Jays (FD $7600, DK $6800) – I like Buehrle going up against his old team and facing off against Chris Sale as the White Sox lineup just is not dangerous at all right now and Buehrle has been pitching extremely well of late. I certainly do not like him that much on FD because of how important the win is. Buehrle has allowed just 8 earned runs over his last 6 starts.
A.J. Burnett, Pittsburgh Pirates (FD $9100, DK $9400) – I can never get Burnett right as I know I suggested him as a stud option the last time he faced the Padres and he ended up giving up 5 runs in 5.2 innings, he ended up allowing 10 base runners in that game. He gets to take them on at home tonight and his home ERA is nearly half of what it is on the road. He has given up just 1 home run per month so far in 2015 and I think the Pirates offense gets to Shields more than the Padres offense gets to Burnett. The game has an over/under of 7 runs and Burnett is a -140 favorite right now.
Jon Lester, Chicago Cubs (FD $8700, DK $9000) – Lester and the Cubs are a -128 favorite tonight at home against Lackey and the Cardinals. I think both pitchers make excellent GPP options, however I chose Lester because he is the favorite at home and the fact that I feel like he has a higher ceiling. Lester is capable of putting up dominant performances and tonight could be the night he does that. The Cubs need to find ways to cut into the Cardinals Division lead and tonight is the first chance.
Milwaukee Brewers: Gerardo Parra (FD $3100, DK $3700), Jonathan Lucroy (FD $3300, DK $4000), Ryan Braun (FD $5000, DK $5300), Adam Lind (FD $4200, DK $4500) – Wisler has been pitching pretty well for the Braves, however the Brewers have been on fire as they have won 8 straight games and are tearing the cover off of the baseball. I think you can easily stack 1-6 in this lineup tonight as Wisler just does not strike out many hitters and with the way the Brewers are seeing it, it could be a long night for Wisler and the Braves.
Los Angeles Dodgers: Joc Pederson (FD $3300, DK $4000), Justin Turner (FD $3400, DK $3900), Adrian Gonzalez (FD $3000, DK $4700), Andre Ethier (FD $2400, DK $3500) – I would pay attention the lineup for the Dodgers has they move things around at times and Gonzalez was hit on the hand/wrist over the weekend and could need a day or two to recover. I think Kendrick and Puig make interesting inclusions to the stack that gets to face off with Sean O’Sullivan.
Detroit Tigers: Yoenis Cespedes (FD $3500, DK $3900), Victor Martinez (FD $3300, DK $3600), J.D. Martinez (FD $4400, DK $4300) – The Tigers get to face off with Iwakuma as he makes his return from a lengthy DL stint after he allowed 5 home runs in 3 early season starts. I like both sides of this match-up for GPPs as the Tigers will often get over looked now that Cabrera has landed on the DL. I would certainly look to stack 1-6 in this lineup.
Washington Nationals: Denard Span (FD $3400, DK $4500), Danny Espinosa (FD $2400, DK $3000), Bryce Harper (FD $5200, DK $5700) – This is a stack that I think will be low owned as a whole (Harper will be pretty popular) and I think you can stack 5 or 6 guys from this lineup with Sale and Carrasco as your pitchers and feel somewhat confident as I think the Nats offense gets to DeSclafani tonight.
Make sure you pay attention to the weather as I see some rain spots in 4 or 5 cities tonight and I definitely do not want you guys to get screwed over by a postponement . I like some of the bats from the Royals, the Mariners, the Reds and the Orioles tonight. The Giants also intrigue me even though they have been struggling as they get to face off with Niese tonight. I think Volquez, Shields and even Iwakuma are in play as options tonight. I know I listed the Tigers stack above and I think they get to Iwakuma more often than not, however he is somebody that I have rostered a lot over the last couple of seasons and seems to always go under the radar.
