Let’s take a look at the evening slate on this Wednesday. Rumor is that Clayton Kershaw has been scratched by the LA Dodgers due to a hip issue. Make sure you follow up with me on twitter to verify if that is the truth. I will go under the assumption that he is not playing tonight.
Nationals(-109) @ Marlins 7.5
Padres(-105) @ Mets 7
Reds @ Cardinals(-171) 7.5
White Sox @ Red Sox(-114) 8.5
Yankees(-149) @ Rangers 9
Angels @ Astros(-126) 7.5
Phillies @ Blue Jays(-280) 9.5
Braves @ Orioles(-210) 8.5
Athletics @ Dodgers(-210) 7
Tyson Ross, San Diego Padres (FD $8500, DK $10,800) – I think Ross is in a great spot tonight as the Mets offense has been pretty weak and initially people were going to be all over Kershaw. This game has the lowest over/under of the night at 7 runs and Ross is a -105 road favorite. I love Ross’ price on FD and think his DK price means people will look to go with Tanaka at a discount which should lead him to be lower owned than he should be tonight.
Masahiro Tanaka, New York Yankees (FD $10,000, DK $10,200) – This game has the second highest over/under of the night and that might sound scary but I think the majority of those runs will be scored by the Yankees offense as they get to face Colby Lewis after putting up what was close to 1,000 runs last night. Tanaka has never faced any of the players on the Rangers roster and I think that benefits him greatly tonight.
Jose Quintana, Chicago White Sox (FD $8400, DK $8300) – I’ve been loving Quintana lately and I think he is in another great spot tonight going up against the Red Sox. The Red Sox lost their lead off hitter last night as Betts is going to end up on the 7-Day concussion DL. Quintana is coming off of a complete game shutout against the Indians and faces a Red Sox roster that has just 7 hits in 37 at bats against him. For some reason Vegas still likes the Red Sox in this one as the BoSox are a -114 home favorite tonight.
Chris Tillman, Baltimore Orioles (FD $6300, DK $6000) – Tillman and the Orioles are big -210 favorites at home tonight as they face the Braves. Tillman has not given up more than 2 runs in any of his last 5 starts and seems to be locked in on the mound right now. The Braves lineup is far from dangerous and they have very limited experience going against Tillman.
R.A. Dickey, Toronto Blue Jays (FD $7500, DK $6500) – I love R.A. tonight as his teammates should be able to put up a nice cushion for him as they get to hack against Jerome Williams. I expect the Jays to be pumped up as Tulo should be making his debut tonight and the atmosphere in the Rogers Centre should be electric. I think Dickey will be over looked tonight and for his price, especially on DK, I think you can’t go wrong. Dickey and the Jays are -280 favorites tonight.
Garrett Richards, Los Angeles Angels (FD $8700, DK $9300) – My two GPP plays oppose each other tonight as the Angels take on the Astros. Right now the Astros are a -126 favorite in a game with an over/under of just 7.5 runs. I think the game ends up playing to the under as I can see a very nice pitcher’s duel. Richards has given up just 4 earned runs in 11.2 innings this season against the Astros while striking out 14. The Astros lineup has just a .248 average against Richards in their careers.
Lance McCullers, Houston Astros (FD $6700, DK $8800) – As I said above, this game should be a very nice pitching match-up as McCullers has been awesome as a rookie this season and is the favorite in tonight’s match-up. McCullers has made one start against the Angels this season and went 6 innings and allowed 1 run while striking out 6. He has been filthy at home so far in 2015 as he has an ERA of 1.54 and a batting average allowed of just .175.
Toronto Blue Jays: Josh Donaldson (FD $4700, DK $5200), Troy Tulowitzki (FD $4000, DK $4100), Jose Bautista (FD $4400, DK $5300), Edwin Encarnacion (FD $4600, DK $4400) – I am curious to see what the lineup is going to be for the Jays tonight as Devon Travis left injured last night. I have a feeling we could be seeing Donaldson in the lead-off spot. I like the whole Jays lineup and think that Martin, Smoak, Colabello, Pillar, the Bat boy and the announcer make great options against No-Home Jerome Williams.
New York Yankees: Jacoby Ellsbury (FD $3700, DK $4400), Brett Gardner (FD $3700, DK $4900), Alex Rodriguez (FD $4300, DK $5000), Mark Teixeira (FD $3700, DK $4900) – The Yankees are extremely hot right now and I am going to continue to ride their offense in hopes that they did not blow their entire load yesterday HAHA. Tex left the game early last night so you will want to pay attention to the lineup. I think McCann, Beltran/Young and Didi make great additions as Didi has been swinging a hot-hot stick.
Chicago White Sox: Tyler Saladino (FD $3000, DK $2400), Melky Cabrera (FD $3600, DK $3800), Jose Abreu (FD $3400, DK $4600), Geovany Soto (FD $2300, DK $2500) – I love the White Sox right now as they are just stinging the baseball and today they face Porcello, who has been pretty bad this season for the Red Sox. Eaton is certainly a solid addition as is Garcia. I threw Soto in because he has been on fire and hope that they keep him behind the plate tonight. LaRoche is a sneaky addition to the stack as he has not been swinging it all too well but hitting IS contagious.
Washington Nationals: Jayson Werth (FD $3100, DK $3600), Bryce Harper (FD $4400, DK $5500), Ryan Zimmerman (FD $2300, DK $3300) – I had a couple of options here but I went with the Nationals as they got Werth, Rendon and Zimmerman back and today should be just the second time all season all three have been in the lineup together. With that said, I really like the 3-5 spots for the Nationals today and certainly would not be against including Rendon, Escobar and Ramos. For fantasy purposes, I really can not wait for Span to get back to give them a 1-5 of Span, Rendon, Werth, Harper, Zimmerman.
A few more pitchers that I think can be used in GPPs tonight are Lackey against the Reds, Chavez against the Dodgers, Foltynewicz against the Orioles and Fister against the Marlins. Among those guys, I really like Lackey against the Reds but I also can see mini stacking the Reds as a bit of a contrarian stack as Votto has been on a roll. I really think the Padres lineup could be in a spot to break out against Bartolo tonight as they have the pieces that should be able to put up runs against a pitcher that throws a fastball nearly 90% of the time. I am hearing that the Dodgers may be running out Mike Bolsinger tonight and if that is the case, I can make a case for the A’s lefties as Reddick has been on a roll and Vogt has gotten a couple of days off to rest and I expect him to catch fire again soon.
