Announced before their quarterly earnings call earlier today, Amaya has acquired the daily fantasy sports platform Victiv in a move that allows them to get to the DFS market as quickly as possible. The brand will be known as StarsDraft, a play on the PokerStars brand that Amaya is known for. Along with the acquisition of the DFS platform, Victiv’s experienced DFS team will also be a part of the package as both look to grow and make a dent in the ever growing arms race for customer acquisitions. As reported from Advfn.com
“StarsDraft (http://www.StarsDraft.com ) will combine Victiv’s innovative platform and experienced DFS team with Amaya’s expansive consumer base and operational excellence as the world’s preeminent online gaming brand,” said Matthew Primeaux, CEO of Victiv. “We intend to capitalize on what we believe is strong crossover between online poker players and daily fantasy sports. PokerStars is the most-trusted brand in online gaming and brings unmatched security, customer support and technical infrastructure that we believe all players can rely on.”
At first glance it does not seem like a lot will be changing between what Victiv offered and what will soon be available at StarsDraft. Expect PGA contests to continue to be offered along with the major sports that Victiv currently has available. Also it has been mentioned that the bankroll builder subsequently known as beat the victron will also make the transfer to StarsDraft. This is a great promotion for newer players who do not want to risk their own funds when first starting out in DFS. With the acquisition of Victiv, Amaya guarantees a dedicated staff that was already heading down the right path towards DFS relevance. It is starting to look like a 5 horse race for DFS players to chase massive prize pools. The smaller sites should also be offering deposit bonuses in hopes of acquiring users. All in all it is a great time to be a player in the DFS industry, options abound for our precious dollar and competition benefits players the most.
